Andi Regan

Andi is a full time, award-winning artist living and practicing in Wānaka, her works are represented at several galleries in New Zealand and are held in private and public collections throughout the country and overseas.

Her process is primarily concerned with the repurposing of man-made materials; transforming industrial everyday materials into organic sculptures that reflect the patterns and textures of mother nature. Andi enjoys the challenge of recreating natural forms through hand manipulation and dyeing of alternative materials, creating realistic, tactile biomorphic pieces where shadow play often brings the work to life. Combining man-made materials with nature themes provides thought provoking subjects and a reminder of the continuing threat to our ecosystems.

There is evidence in her work of her degree in Textile Design, how she plays with pattern, texture and unexpected materials; which has led to Andi being a finalist and award winner in the World of Wearable arts in Wellington several times. Her recent focus along with working on private commissions, has been producing a series of works for Te Atamira, Queenstown, Sculptureum, Auckland; Naumi Hotel, Wellington; Cambridge School Conference room, Wakatipu School foyer and most recently producing a series of works for Air New Zealand airports and lounges. Andi also enjoys being part of a collective space, to connect with other artists and share her art with her local community.
