Artē Collective is a newly formed, artist-led gallery based in Luggate, just outside Wānaka in New Zealand’s stunning Central Otago region. Established by six artists from Wānaka, Lake Hāwea and Queensberry, the gallery was created to provide a vibrant, collaborative space where creativity can flourish — a place for artists to evolve, support one another, and share their work with the wider community.

Each member of the collective brings a unique voice and perspective to the gallery. Ceramicist Sue Rutherford draws deep inspiration from the textures, forms, and patterns found in the New Zealand landscape, creating pieces that reflect the natural world through tactile surfaces. Jenny Chisholm, a painter, also takes her cues from the local environment. Her works are rich with the colours and moods of Central Otago’s landscapes, skies, and trees.

In contrast, Andi Regan’s sculptural works are created re-purposing industrial materials, creating vibrant, biomorphic pieces, where colour and shadow play bring her works to life. Painter Lizzie Carruthers brings humour and personality to her art, capturing expressive animal characters that delight and connect with viewers.

Artē Collective also includes Briar Hardy-Hesson, a jeweller and multidisciplinary artist whose jewellery is unique and her artwork bold in colour. As well as, Sophie Melville, a watercolour painter, creating layered abstract landscapes that convey both memory and atmosphere. Her fluid compositions invite quiet reflection and emotional resonance.

Together, these artists have created a contemporary art space that reflects a slice of the artistic talent in the Wānaka and Central Otago region.

Visitors to the gallery can expect to meet these artists in person as they wo-man the space, presenting an ever-evolving display of original artwork.
